BURNABY, B.C. – July 6, 2021 – The BC Hockey League (BCHL) today announced an extension of their agreement with software company, HeadCheck Health (HeadCheck), to equip all teams with their HeadCheck Pro web and app-based concussion management platform.

Since 2017, the BCHL has streamlined all concussion documentation, testing, and return-to-play management through HeadCheck. This digital setup keeps all individuals involved in concussion management informed and provides team staff, from team Athletic Therapists to Physicians and other Medical staff, with the ability to collaborate on care in a consistent fashion, in line with the League protocol.

“We are thrilled to extend our longstanding relationship with HeadCheck,” said Steven Cocker, Deputy Commissioner of the BCHL. “Player safety testing and injury tracking are of the utmost importance as BCHL athletes advance in their hockey careers. We want to ensure our team’s medical personnel are using a concussion management platform that provides access to gold-standard tests and analysis tools, such as comparison with a player’s historical test performance.”

“As an Athletic Therapist, I appreciate HeadCheck’s attention to detail, proactiveness, and their ever-evolving approach to bringing education to the protocols and policies revolving around concussions, but most importantly player safety,” said Janine Kondas, CAT (C), ATABC with Victoria Grizzlies. “HeadCheck has been instrumental within many teams to quickly identify and take action on any roadblocks that a player might face whether they are injured or not.”

“It’s exciting to see our relationship with the BCHL continue and to be part of advancing player health and safety protocols,” said Harrison Brown, CEO of HeadCheck. “The League and team staff have been tremendous to work with and played a big role in evolving our platform.”
